So, I'm in Romania visiting Charlie for a while, and this place definitely has it's own feel. I can see how Charlie could make it home, or a second home. We'll likely be going home for Christmas next week. In the meantime when I haven't been roaming around, I have seriously considered trying my hand at cooking.
No need to be scared anyone. I did find a book, in English (thank Merlin). I think I may try to make something. I'm pretty good at fire extinguishing charms, which is a good thing. And if the kitchen does get a little smoky, then it will on persuade Charlie in finally taking me to see the dragons (because I am no longer ten).
Just a little update from Romania.
I've been reading the news lately, although a few days late. The thing about Alexis Garrett is really strange. I wonder who did it? Any news that hasn't quite reached here yet on that topic.
Hermione, how is everyone doing at home?
Well, I better go attempt to ruin Charlie's oven forever.

I am fully capable of having a conversation without hexing someone or it being some sordid ordeal.
Nothing to worry about, really.
That is all.

After reading the latest Daily Prophet, I have been reaffirmed that the journalist employed there do not believe in research or fair reporting.
But that really isn't news, is it?
In this particular case I am referring to the article about Julian Wardress and Abigail Johnson. First of all, I find it sad that our Ministry has decided to keep these two in custody over self defense. It has been a long standing law that magic can be used in front of Muggles in a case in which their own safety or lives are at risk. While it is sad and vile, it isn't something that has been unused by the Ministry before. The policies toward magical self defense are often upheld when it benefits the Ministry and cast aside when they can make an example of someone.
Secondly, how can we possibly be convinced that this is a one time fluke? The answer is we can't. While I would go so far as to say that most Muggles are sane, peaceful, good people, we can't escape history. While the Prophet's writers may have fallen asleep in the History of Magic classes, some of us actually did the reading. For those that may not recall, Muggle distrust of wizards began over a thousand years ago. Upon seeing the grown of anti-magical feelings, the four founders of our own Hogwarts school banded together to create a place where magical children could safely grow and learn about something that was innate in them... magic.
A few hundred years later, Muggles began 'witch hunting' attempting to catch and kill magical people. Unfortunately for them, magical ability allowed most that were caught to escape, but many Muggles ended up killing their own kind during that time.
Many of these sentiments continued to last, which is why wizards and other beings from all over the world convened and elected to adopt the International Statute of Secrecy in 1692.
So, clearly wizarding kind and Muggle kind have not enjoyed centuries of peaceful living, unless you of course count the centuries in which Muggles were oblivious to the magical community's existence.
So, although not as grandscale an event as some of the ones in the past, the case with Mr. Wardress and Ms. Johnson is a clear indication that distrust among Muggles towards wizards still exists.
One has to wonder if this is truly progression, and if so, what would this progression mean for the wizarding world?
We have obviously tried in the past to coincide with Muggles, and it hasn't worked.
Progression as far as integrating has some major holes.
Surely we would wish to protect our world and our people from any possible harm, and continue to progress by rebuilding the world many of us have grown up in and others have been welcomed to as magical persons. We can embrace our magical heritage and magical diversity, but we also have to keep practicality and safety in mind. Not only for ourselves, but also for the Muggles whom could seriously be hurt by the magic they do not understand and can not possess. It doesn't take a deep look into history to be reminded that not every wizard has had the best interest of Muggles in mind.

So, Perce has gotten another big promotion. To be quite frank, I'm not surprised, he is pretty much married to his work. I wouldn't be suprised if that ended up being more literal than not. And good riddance to Umbridge. I remember her year at Hogwarts was one of the worst.
I haven't got much to write really. There is a charity gala Friday that I think many people that I know are attending, for youth Quidditch and football, muggles and wizards a like. It shall be an interesting time, at least.
So, anyone up for a nice lunch tomorrow?
